Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coda.
Software Engineer
Got a bunch of emails from Coda first. The phone screen was like a standard LeetCode problem, but the onsite was way harder. It was more about implementation questions in LeetCode but with a lot more requirements. The questions were pretty practical, but honestly, if you weren't expecting them, it could go either way.
- A LeetCode problem was asked.
- Questions on implementation with additional requirements were presented.
- Questions related to Trees were included.
Software Engineer
Recruiter reached out on Hired. The interview process was good and the recruiter was helpful in coordinating. I got a product walkthrough, then had an hour-long interview with an engineer. The interviewer was nice, and the interview involved solving three incremental parts of a question about binary tree traversal and construction from a string. I didn't need hints and finished everything on time. Unfortunately, I didn't get a response to my emails after the interview and got an automated rejection the next day. I've asked for more feedback and will share it if I get it.
- The question involved solving three parts incrementally, focusing on binary tree traversal and construction from a string.
Software Engineer
I applied online, and a recruiter reached out to me over email to schedule a chat about my interests and experience. After the chat, we scheduled a 1 hour technical video call. The recruiters were very quick in reaching out to me and scheduling things (1-2 day response turnaround). The technical screen was a typical coding question asked in multiple stages (increasing in difficulty - probably something in the range of a Leetcode "medium"). Though I performed poorly, the engineer was very kind, professional, and patient in understanding my thought process and providing hints, which made it a great experience. I was rejected about a week later.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
