First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CoConstruct.
Designer
The application and interview process started off pretty normal to begin with - recruiter was friendly and knowledgeable. About halfway through the process, I was given a homework “assignment” to redesign the main interface of their product. I was expected to do a complete overhaul of a very complex screen, and then present it during my onsite interview. Looking back at this now, I realize how grossly inappropriate this was. I essentially gave them a week’s worth of work for free, no strings attached. The on-site interview was fine, but it became clear that they didn’t understand the value of a UX Designer, and mainly wanted someone to do their UI. Designers beware, you will be asked to do free work.
- Tell me about a time you had a difficult interaction with a coworker.
Sales Executive
So I was contacted by an HR recruiter who was pretty unprofessional. She left a voicemail, and I called her back and we set up a phone screen. Then I got an email saying it was an in-person interview, which was confusing, so I emailed her to clarify. She then sent back a confirmation for a phone interview, admitting she made a mistake. I emailed to confirm the date and time. On the day of the interview, she never called. A few hours later, I emailed her saying it was a shame we missed each other and asked if she wanted to reschedule. She didn't reply for six days, then asked when would be a good time to reschedule. We set up another date and time. She called me seven minutes late for this one and didn't even apologize. The phone screen itself was fine though. I sent a thank you email that night and heard nothing else. She had no common courtesy at all, making me question the company.
- Can you tell me about your sales experience?
Implementation Coach
I sent in my application online. The CEO/founder was the first person to reach out via email. After that, the department manager got in touch to set up a phone interview with an external HR company. The next step involved a role-play with the department manager, which needed some preparation using the actual product. Lastly, I had an in-person interview with the CEO, the department manager, and the team manager.
- Can you share an instance where you had to describe a difficult situation?
Operations Manager
The interview process started with a recruiter call, then a phone screen, followed by an onsite interview. I received an offer, but unfortunately couldn't accept it as the salary was significantly lower than my current compensation. The interviewer was very professional and approachable, but negotiations weren't successful. I hope for a future opportunity to work together.
