The main interview process consisted of three separate interviews, each lasting one hour. It was a very clear and concise process, you just have to be ready for each part and have a really solid 'why.' Be ready to discuss your experience and how it connects to the job. Everyone I spoke with was very conversational and knowledgeable.

This was the worst interview process ever. They told me so many different things over 4 months. First they said I was a "great fit", then that they were pausing hiring due to the economy. A month later, they contacted me again saying I was on a shortlist for the final round. Then, almost two months after that, they told me they were "rescoping" the role. This all happened after I had already interviewed three times with the hiring manager, once with a team member, and once with a senior person in finance. It was super frustrating and they didn't seem to care. I get that business needs change, but the lack of empathy and professionalism over 4 months was unlike anything I've experienced. They need to do better!

I had a recruiter screen where I was asked some database questions. Then I had another round where I was asked some database questions. I had a list of questions I wanted to ask, but they interrupted me twice, so I didn't get to ask them. They rejected me because they want candidates with sales experience in the database space, which wasn't stated in the job description. It seems like they don't train new hires and want someone who already has all the experience.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was thorough and challenging. I talked with the recruiter and the hiring manager, and was impressed with Cockroach Labs' culture and values. It was very time-consuming though, taking several hours of prep for each interview. I was told I was talented and would hear back, but then got a boilerplate email saying they moved on with other candidates. I wish I'd gotten more feedback on why I wasn't selected. Overall, it was a positive experience, the company is a leader and the people I met were great, but I was disappointed with the lack of communication after the second interview. Transparency about the process and timeline would be good.
