Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cochlear.
Intern
The recruitment process was extremely slow, taking a long time to get to the interview stage. I got other offers while waiting. Even after the interview, I never heard back, not even a rejection after months, which made their communication process seem bad. The interview itself felt like a guessing game because a senior engineer asked a networking question with unclear wording, and then immediately gave the answer without letting me ask clarifying questions. I knew the answer if it had been worded correctly. Based on the slow communication and the interview panel, the culture seemed bureaucratic and not very supportive of interns. I decided to look elsewhere and won't apply for their graduate program.
- What are the layers of the TCP protocol?
Intern
It's a pretty competitive internship with a low acceptance rate, and you can tell because of the interview stages. But the people at Cochlear were really nice once I started talking to them.
- What motivates you to apply to Cochlear?
Intern
The interview process involves an assessment centre which includes a group presentation, followed by an interview specific to your chosen stream. This interview is purely behavioral. The interviewers were very friendly and professional, making it a great overall experience.
- Could you discuss some current industrial trends?
