I made it to the final stage but was ghosted after my interview and never heard back. I had to reach out twice to get my second interview scheduled. It felt like nobody cared.

I had an interview for a contractor role, starting with a recruiter call. Then I talked to the manager, who was really nice. She mentioned they usually hire contractors within about 3 months. I got a tour of the facility in Twin Cities; I think their main office is in St Cloud or Duluth. The manager asked just one technical question, about DMZ, which I think she phrased a bit differently than I expected. She also asked general questions about my background and why I'm interested in the job, which she said are common in every interview.

It's a 3 tier interview process. First you talk to the ESR (employee service representative) and go over your resume and the job. The second interview is with the ESR and the Store Director, with the same questions and resume review. The third is with the ESR, Store Director, and Market HR Manager, and maybe the Market Manager. In this third one, they ask detailed questions about why you left your last jobs and what you did for them specifically.

  • Can you elaborate on why you left your previous employers?
  • Could you detail your contributions and responsibilities at your previous jobs?

Behavioral Other

The online application was cumbersome, time-consuming, and redundant to resume submission. There were no calls or pre-screening, just an automated email rejection despite qualifications exceeding the posted position's requirements. It's disappointing that HR departments no longer invest 15-20 minutes in phone conversations with applicants. Coborn's, like other employers, missed out on securing an over-qualified professional for its team. Poor approach, no follow-up, no background check, disappointing.
