3 interviews, first is a quick meet and greet, second is immersion into the field, and third is a final recap. They don't tell you much about the position in the first interview. You leave thinking it's just marketing, like showing products around stores during 'events'. In the second, they explain in more detail and you find out it's really just sales of other clients' products in Sam's Club and Costco. Your pay is based on sales. You're a salesperson until you move up to run a team of salespeople, where your pay is again based on sales. From my experience, you aren't the tasting center that everyone loves, you're almost like the door-to-door salesman that everyone hates, just inside a store instead of in neighborhoods. Your pay for about a year is $7.25/hr plus commission. You work 12 days straight and then break for 3. This is all I found out about it during interviews.

I applied for a PR Assistant and Event Marketing role, and got a phone interview the next day, which was super quick, maybe 5 minutes. The recruiter asked about my resume, leadership experience, and commute willingness. She then invited me for an in-person interview the following day. I was excited until I saw reviews saying it's actually a sales job, which isn't my thing. But I went anyway. Turns out the reviews were right - it's about selling products at Costco or Sam's Club, with advancement based on sales performance. I was surprised to even get an interview given my writing background. The interviewer, though friendly, talked fast like she was reading a script. She mentioned that if I moved forward, they'd call by 4 PM to set up a shadowing session at a trunk show for the next day. I did get the call but turned down the opportunity, wishing the title was more accurate to avoid wasting everyone's time.

I met really cool and professional people during the interview process. I especially enjoyed the second interview, which was at an event and with a hiring manager. This allowed me to see firsthand what my day-to-day tasks would involve. He used some interesting techniques and even taught me a few things. I wasn't sure what to expect and was a bit overwhelmed, but he was very nice. He explained the different marketing types and the growth opportunities. It was a great experience, especially seeing techniques not covered in my classes. The only downside was witnessing some rudeness towards the hiring manager I was shadowing, but he handled it professionally.

Behavioral Technical

My interview was supposed to start at 10:15, but it didn't actually kick off until about 10:30-10:40. I ended up just chilling in the waiting area, listening to the receptionist call out names for interviews. The actual interview part was super quick, maybe only 10-15 minutes long. They asked some really general questions, like about my marketing background and why I'm into marketing. The interview itself was pretty average, but then the interviewer started explaining how customers move through Costco and how much money they make, and how the company's clients were basically contestants from Shark Tank who relied on these weird Costco sales. The whole explanation of the job felt off, so I was totally turned off from continuing to a second interview, even if they offered it.
