Manager
The interview process for this Manager role was quite long, lasting 8 weeks from the initial phone screening to the final decision. Even though the interviewers were pleasant and seemed dedicated to the company, the process felt unnecessarily drawn out. I was initially told by the hiring manager that I'd get feedback within a week to a week and a half after my interview. However, I didn't receive an email until a month later. At that point, I'd already decided that the company wasn't a good fit for me due to their communication issues. It's a pity, as it's a well-regarded company and the employees appear invested in its success. I've also heard from others in the field that this lengthy waiting period for follow-up is quite common with this company.
- Can you discuss your professional background?
Graphic Designer
This was a well-organized and delightful interview process. I first had a discovery call with a member of the recruiting team, then a follow-up call with my future manager, then I was invited to interview in-person with various team members. I received a tour of the office at the end of the interview process. It all moved along at a great pace and I was even able to get all my questions answered via a live negotiation call after my verbal offer. I enjoyed speaking with everyone!
- Tell me about a time you handled a challenging client situation.
VP Investor Relations
The recruiter got the interview set up. I ended up talking with my future boss, which went great. He even gave me a hint about an offer, saying something like, "We'll see if we can find you a home here." Then I interviewed with the founder, and that also went well. After that, though, they and the recruiter totally ghosted me for weeks, way past the date they said they'd let me know. My emails and calls went unanswered. After a lot of waiting, the recruiter finally got back to me, saying they decided to go with someone else. The would-be boss was cool, but their whole recruiting process was super unprofessional and didn't make the company look good.
- What is prompting your job search?
Leasing Consultant
So first, I had a phone call with a corporate recruiter. We talked about my basic work history, why I left my old jobs, and just some general questions about my customer service and sales skills. Pretty soon after that, they called me back to set up an in-person interview. A lot of the questions in person were kinda like the first call – stuff about customer service, sales, social media, and then some "tell me about a time" questions, like dealing with a tough customer. But they were more specific to the actual property I was interviewing for.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a challenging or unhappy customer?
