First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coalition.
Engineering Manager
The interview process was tough but fair. My recruiter did a great job preparing me on cultural values and team needs, allowing me to concentrate on the types of questions I'd face, which was honestly the best recruiter experience I've had. Afterward, I had four 1-hour interviews with different Engineering and Product leaders. They were spread across three days, which I appreciated instead of being crammed into one. The questions mainly covered managerial/leadership experience and aspects, with a few minor technical questions and some hypothetical ones to gauge problem-solving approaches. The interviews were challenging but equitable. I felt accomplished afterward.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully convinced others to adopt a viewpoint that benefited your team or the business?
Engineering Manager
The interview process at Coalition was a really good one. The recruiters did a great job of letting me know what to expect regarding the timeline, the steps involved, and what topics would be covered. They wanted to know about my experience with cutting-edge engineering projects, working with product teams, system architecture, managing people, and leadership in general. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, clearly prepared, and asked really smart questions.
- Can you share an example of the most innovative engineering project you have been a part of?
- Tell me about a time you worked on an innovative engineering project.
- Describe your experience collaborating with product teams.
Engineering Manager
I got contacted by the recruiter and it was great because they explained the company values and roles. I wasn't initially thinking about insurance but was really drawn to the security aspect. The overview of the business they gave me was super helpful and really helped me understand the innovation Coalition is all about. The interviews are the typical behavioural ones, but I appreciated that each one was tied to the company values. This helped me understand the point of each interview type. The questions were pretty standard, asking about my past work. I also liked the salary comparison tools and how the recruiter helped me understand my personal family needs during the offer negotiations.
- Tell me about a time you learned from an error.
