I applied through NHS jobs and got shortlisted for a recruitment day. This involved a practice based assessment and a group discussion, which was then followed by an interview. The interview itself felt a bit off because the questions seemed misleading. I was told at the start that there wouldn't be any trick questions, but then during feedback, I heard that I didn't connect enough with clinical examples, which wasn't explicitly asked for in the questions but seemed to be a requirement for the assessment. Also, it looked like the panel was giving jobs away to people right after their interview, so they probably didn't interview everyone before deciding, and it was more like a first-come, first-served thing for offers. This is not the usual way recruitment works, and they seemed to favor internal applicants, though that's not totally unusual for the NHS.
