Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CMA CGM.
Chef de Projet
I had two interviews, two weeks apart. The first was with an HR person, and the second with the manager. The response time was long; an offer was made after a month from the start of the process. There was no reactivity, I had to follow up several times.
- Tell me about your background and experience in detail, how it's relevant for the role, your Excel proficiency, and how you use backlogs.
Project Manager Intern
There are 2 interviews, one with HR and one with the Manager. This can extend to 3 if the manager and the internship tutor are not the same person. Watch out, there is an Excel test for data analysts.
- Why did you choose shipping?
Project Manager
The interview was tough, not because I lacked knowledge, but the interviewer seemed unsure about what she was looking for in the role. The questions felt more theoretical and idealistic than practical, focusing on concepts rather than real-world applications or existing market solutions from companies big or small. The interview didn't go as I expected based on my preparation. It felt like they were fishing for a magic answer instead of assessing my actual experience, capabilities, and fit for the position. I was interviewing for a Project Manager role, my career focus, not a CDO or Director. Her questions felt off-target and unsuitable for the role. It was a disappointing and time-wasting interview.
- What does digitalization mean to you?
