I was introduced to the CEO by a VC friend. Then I spoke with the hiring manager, who is the head of marketing. I completed a project relevant to the role and then reviewed it with the head of marketing and the head of product. After that, I spoke with the CFO/CSO, and then the Chief of Staff/GTM Ops head. I also had a brief follow-up conversation with the CFO. Additionally, I met with the other three members of the marketing team. An offer was extended, we negotiated, and I accepted. The entire process took just under a month from beginning to end. It was a lengthy but very smooth experience.

I chatted with a recruiter who was trying to find a role for me that had interesting projects and a good work/life balance. They told me about a position at Clyde that sounded perfect. Clyde really does their research on candidates. I had 3 interviews: one to start, a technical one, and one with the team I'd be joining. The interviews were enjoyable and I learned a lot. I got to ask questions, which I mostly used to figure out if I'd like working there and if they'd like my working style. They also checked the 3 references I gave them. After getting through that, I got an offer, which I accepted.

I applied online and then emailed the CEO directly to follow up. This got me connected with the hiring manager, and I ended up doing all the interviews with them. Over four weeks, I went through four stages: a phone screen, a take-home assignment, a take-home presentation, and a product case study. Everything was done virtually. I think if I had done well on the case study, the next step would have been a virtual onsite, which would have been the final round. They ultimately passed on me after the product case round, saying they were looking for someone with more product experience, which was a bit confusing since I was upfront about being new to product management from the start. It's odd it took four rounds to realize this, especially after they told me my background was impressive post-application and phone screen.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I heard from a recruiter about this role. They were super helpful in speeding things up because I had another offer I was considering. The interview process was pretty standard. It started with a recruiter screen, then I talked to the hiring manager, and after that, a technical chat with a peer. Then, they gave me some docs and I had to do a presentation to the team, pretending they were the client, about their tech. They asked good questions during it. Finally, I interviewed with a leadership person and the CEO. They made an offer soon after. The recruiter and manager kept in touch, answering my questions and making sure I had what I needed.
