Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Clutter.
Recruiter
The interview started with a 30-minute phone call with the VP of Sales, covering both job-related and personality questions. After that, I was given a case study with minimal instructions to complete within 48 hours. A few days later, I was invited for an in-person interview with no specifics on who I'd meet or the duration. Upon arrival at the open-plan office, the interview seemed disorganized; some expected interviewers were unavailable. I met with people from operations, marketing, HR, and others. They all asked me to review my background and then delved into specific recruiting and process questions, also asking how I'd present the company culture, which was challenging given it was my first impression. The VP of Sales then asked about my availability to meet the founders. I left feeling mostly positive, despite the disorganization and some absences. The entire in-person interview lasted about 3.5 hours, which was longer than I anticipated and left me scrambling back at my job. Shortly after sending a thank-you email, I received a rejection, which felt abrupt given they had suggested moving forward to meet the founders. From a recruiter's standpoint, better communication about interview length, avoiding discussing future rounds without intention, and providing a more timely rejection would improve the candidate experience.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Clutter?
- In your own words, how would you sell Clutter to a potential candidate?
- What strategies would you implement for employee retention?
Recruiting Coordinator
I applied online and then a recruiter got in touch to set up an initial screening. During the call, the recruiter mentioned that this position wouldn't involve scheduling and would instead focus on programmatic responsibilities and actually interviewing and hiring frontline workers, which made me think the job title didn't quite fit. They said someone would follow up with me, but I never heard back. It would have been good to at least get a rejection email instead of being ghosted.
- Can you walk me through your background?
Recruiter
The interview process was quite straightforward with basic questions. They primarily wanted to understand my background and asked a few "what would you do in this scenario" type questions. I had two interviews with two different people, and both were very pleasant.
- Could you share an instance of a mistake you made in a past role and explain how you addressed it?
