& Process

So I had an in person interview with the team's boss and then with the CEO. The CEO asked me 2 coding questions, they were super easy, just make sure you know your searches well.

I applied online via LinkedIn and was contacted by an HR rep who assured me she'd be available for questions. She scheduled a Skype call for later that week with the head of the Austin, TX group. On the call, I spoke with the manager and several team members. I liked that I could meet employees, ask them questions, and they could ask me some. They seemed like a good group. I then got another call to change shortly and was offered a position. I hesitated because I couldn't find information about Clutch Analytics, assuming they were new. I also looked into their parent company, Windhaven, and didn't find much, noting they aren't rated by insurance firms. During the interview, my questions were often met with vague or evasive answers. After the offer, trying to get details about benefits like 401k, insurance, and PTO was difficult, with responses like '401k match is pretty good and insurance has good coverage and isn't too expensive.' The HR rep was no longer available to answer these questions. Despite these concerns, I almost accepted the offer, but I trusted my gut. After reading employee reviews, it seems like a good decision not to accept.

I did a personality assessment and had a virtual interview with the hiring manager. He seemed nice and knowledgeable, so I was invited for an in-person interview. I interviewed with the CTO, and within 5 minutes, I knew I wouldn't enjoy working there. He was looking to be creative in the insurance industry for the sake of creativity, using analogies like 'tinder of insurance.' I didn't get an offer, but I would have declined it anyway due to my impression of the CTO.

An agency reached out to me and set up a call with the hiring manager. I interviewed with several people, and after speaking with the hiring manager, I was ready to be hired.
