First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CLP Holdings.
Admin Officer
I had an interview with HR and 2 managers, for a total of 3 interviewers. The interview was about 30 mins of questions. They would deep dive on how well I know the side business of CLP (like volunteer). There was no written test, it was an in person interview.
- What makes you choose CLP?
- Can you elaborate on your knowledge of CLP's side business, such as volunteer activities?
Product Manager
The interview process was quite long and a bit unclear, which was a bit surprising for a large infrastructure company. I was contacted by two different HR managers for the first and second rounds. The final in-person interview at CLP HQ in Hung Hom, KLN, was scheduled about 4 months after the initial call. They asked for a 15-minute presentation based on a brief from the hiring manager. It felt like they weren't sure what they were looking for, so they cast a wide net. The hiring manager was open about the role's uncertainty and didn't have a clear plan or roadmap for the position. After the in-person interview, there was no follow-up from CLP. It was a bit frustrating for everyone involved, with a constantly shifting goal and a lack of direction.
- Could you present a strategy to the innovation committee for a 3-year product development program covering two product categories?
Graduate Trainee Engineer
The interview process started with an aptitude test and a written test, followed by an assessment centre, and concluded with a panel interview. The aptitude test used SHL. Although the questions haven't been very technical recently, it's a good idea to brush up on power systems, smart grids, and renewable energy. Also, review social topics related to the company and their business plans, which you can find in their annual reports and information kits. This prep applies to the written test and panel interview. The assessment centre involved a team debate on simulated scenarios and wasn't engineer-specific, focusing more on personal qualities like communication and teamwork.
- It is recommended to revise about the following topics: power system, smart grid, renewable energies, social topics that related to company, their business plans (which can be found in their annual reports & information kits), although in the past yr the questions were not very technical
- For the assessment centre, it was a simulated scenarios that u need to debate with other as a team, and not related to engineer.
- Personal qualities like communication skills and team playing were expected.
Graduate Engineer
The interview process involved two rounds. The first round was a 30-minute AP test and a written test where I had to write an essay on foreseeable challenges and provide suggestions. This first round took about 1.5 to 2 hours in total. The second round consisted of a group interview and an individual presentation.
- What changes do you foresee for CLP in the next 5 to 10 years?
