Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cloudbeds.
Sales Executive
First I was contacted by email, and then went through 3 interviews. Everyone I spoke with was super positive, they really listened, and all the questions felt spot on for the role. I felt good after every call. They asked about my CV and real-life scenarios. Overall, I liked the whole process!
- Can you tell me about your greatest professional achievement?
Sales Executive
The hiring process was pretty extensive. I thought it would be simple and fast because I've been using Cloudbeds for 3 years and own a hostel, thinking my product familiarity would help close deals. After applying, I took two tests: a personality test that flagged me as a "Hunter," and a skills test. The skills test had technical issues, booting me out and letting me back in, but I don't think the timer stopped, so I didn't finish and felt anxious. Despite this, I was emailed for an interview with the recruiter, who was nice and acknowledged my experience. Then, I had an interview with my potential direct supervisor, who seemed impressed but suggested I elaborate on my sales skills in the next interview with the director. The "Meet & Greet" with the director was much more relaxed than I expected. She asked a few questions and let me talk about my abilities. I wasn't prepared for this conversational format and ended up talking about my consultative selling approach, which she didn't like, preferring a "sales shark" mentality. I think this is why I didn't get the job. I regret spending almost 2 months focused only on Cloudbeds, especially after telling the recruiter I wasn't looking at other jobs. I waited until the rejection email came. I'm only writing this to access Expedia reviews. I have an upcoming interview with them for a business development role where a consultative approach is encouraged.
- If a hotel owner is experiencing lower business volume compared to competitors and seeks a solution, how would you address them?
Sales Executive
Had a 30-minute Zoom meeting. Before that, I completed an English test and an aptitude test. The whole process has been quite long, but unfortunately, I didn't move on to the next interview stage with the department manager. I was notified about the rejection the day after the interview.
