The interview process was really thorough and organized. They moved quickly between steps and scheduled the next interviews right after the previous one. I applied online, then had a 15-min video interview with the recruiter. After that, I submitted a writing assignment, had a mock call with a team member, and a 30-min interview with the Sales Director. Then there was a 90-min interview that was split into 4 parts with the Director, Manager/TA, VP, and Sales Enablement. Finally, I had a 30-min interview with the Sales Manager. The whole thing took about 3 weeks. Everyone was super welcoming, and I got all my questions answered about the team and company culture. It was a really pleasant experience!
- Can you share an instance where you had to communicate challenging information to a client?

The process was intense. It kicked off with an introductory Zoom call that went well, and the interviewer was very pleasant. After that, I had a written assignment with some personal questions to gauge how I'd handle certain scenarios. This was followed by a mock client call via Zoom with another person. They provided details about a client and a couple of open positions, and I had to guide the client through their choices. Finally, I interviewed with the hiring manager. While the earlier interviewers were great, professional, and offered helpful feedback, the hiring manager was quite arrogant. He asked inappropriate questions about my past interviews at other companies, making it feel more like an interrogation than an interview. He seemed determined to make me perform poorly, suggesting I lacked the right mindset or personality for the role, despite my attempts to highlight my relevant experience. His questions about my covid activities felt like he was trying to steer me away from pursuing this career path. His unprofessional behavior, like playing with his hair and avoiding eye contact, was absurd and egotistical. I'm glad I won't be working with him.
- What did you do during covid when you had fewer work hours?
- What other things or hobbies have you done during covid?
- Why are you not pursuing careers in those areas?

The process was very thorough and gave both parties a chance to get to know one another. It started with a phone screen with a hiring manager, followed by an in-person "coffee" with a hiring manager. The next stage was an in-person interview with various members of the team, which included a presentation and mock call. The team is approximately 20 people currently, so as with any start-up, I imagine this interview format will change over time. I was super impressed with the Talent Advisor team/management and feel that I got a really solid feel for what the culture is like at CloserIQ - a group of highly motivated, intelligent individuals. The various interviews were very conversational and relaxed but as with any interview, do your due diligence in understanding CloserIQ's business and industry!
- What is your motivation for working at a startup?
Talent Advisor
The whole thing took about a month. It started with a phone screen, which then led to an employee referral. Next, I had a brief video chat with the hiring manager, followed by a writing exercise. After sending that in, I was asked to create a mock pitch for my potential manager, which was also a video call and lasted about 30 minutes. The final stage was at their NYC office. This last part had three segments: a 45-minute presentation to a manager, a 30-minute chat with the CEO about culture and my background, and finally, a 30-minute Q&A with one of their advisors. They really care about their company culture and want to see if you'll fit in with their values. It's not a super tough process, but they have high expectations, so be ready. Just a heads-up, they don't cover travel costs if you're coming from outside the city. Overall, it was a good experience, though I was bummed I didn't get an offer.
