Recruiter
The interview process began with an application that included a set of questions relevant to the role and a video submission via Loom. This was followed by a call with the People Ops team. Next, a take-home project was assigned. After that, there was a call with the Head of People Ops, and finally, a call with the Co-Founder/COO. Overall, it's a pretty standard but in-depth interview process. The benefit of this is that you can be sure they know exactly what they're looking for, which means it'll be a good fit for both sides. You also get a lot of chances to learn about the company, and if you do join, you know they're really excited to have you on the team. This seems like a great choice, especially for roles that involve representing the company externally. Plus, they make decisions and respond to emails very quickly.
- Which companies do you think do a great job with employer branding?
- Tell me about your experience managing the full lifecycle of the interview process.
- Can you describe some of the specific challenges you've encountered in recruiting?
Senior Recruiter
The interview process included an initial screen, a take-home assessment, an interview with a senior HR leader, and then a final interview with a co-founder. Everyone I spoke with was nice and easy to talk to. A big issue, though, is their no-feedback policy, even if you get through the whole process. They said they went with someone else, but the job's still posted a month later, which feels like a cop-out. In this job market, it shouldn't take that long to hire a recruiter, especially with so many talented people available. They claim they don't have time to give feedback, which is also an easy excuse to avoid tough conversations, something recruiters and HR pros should handle. It was a red flag when they mentioned it often takes months to fill roles and find the 'perfect' candidate. While I understand that for early hires, this seems more like they're being overly picky or have unrealistic standards. Like others have said, the exercise they give you takes way longer than the 1-2 hours they estimate, and they never review it or discuss your work on it. People who work there seem to really like it and stay for a long time. Just know that if you interview, don't expect your time to be respected with even a quick note of feedback if they don't proceed with you.
- Can you elaborate on your general full-cycle recruitment background?
- What's your experience with managing stakeholders?
- If you could change one thing about our current interview process, what would it be?
Recruiter
Met with Director of People Operations for a video call. The call felt frankly brief and as though they were not interested in actually assessing if I would be a fit for the role once we were on camera. From my experience, and other experiences that I have heard about, and the profound lack of diversity on the team overall, it feels as though the hiring team is keeping out people of color. I did not make it further than the first call, which was not surprising given the seeming lack of interest. Would be curious for other poc to share their experiences interviewing with this company.
