I first heard about this role through Angellist, and then the CTO reached out. It took about 1.5 months to get through the 4 rounds because they were quite busy. We started with a technical phone screen, then I had to do a technical challenge focusing on machine learning and deep learning, followed by a chat with a technical architect, and finally, they extended an offer.

Behavioral Coding System Design

The process had 6 interviews, maybe 7. There were 4 phone calls, 2 with HR and 2 with SWE engineers of different levels. Then there were 2 technical interviews: a coding challenge and a system design interview on-site. They said there might be a 7th interview but luckily there wasn't. They said I'd get an offer soon, but kept delaying it for 4 weeks, and then said they couldn't make an offer anymore. The people were nice, but the process and management were bad. The CEO recently resigned due to sexual harassment allegations. Most of the coding work is on existing platforms, so you won't get much coding experience unless you're applying for a low-level SWE role. Not sure if I should be mad they wasted my time or glad I didn't end up at such an unstable and unprofessional company.

Behavioral Technical

Had a quick phone/skype screening. Felt like my experience was a good fit for what they needed. The in-person interview had a few parts with the lead/managers and then the director, mostly getting to know me, and it all went well. I guess Clinc had trouble deciding on the exact candidate profile they wanted, which ended up being a waste of time for everyone. The pay range for what they likely wanted, which is experience in many areas, probably wouldn't be enough for someone to accept. Something's gotta give. They should be more realistic and upfront about what they want before having candidates spend time interviewing.

Behavioral Coding

There were six interview rounds in total. One round was a behavioral interview, focusing on discussing past experiences and your resume. The other five rounds were coding interviews, each lasting about an hour. The engineers conducting the coding interviews were really friendly, offering guidance and hints when I got stuck. They generally preferred if I talked through my thought process while coding, which made it feel like a collaborative effort.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The questions were similar to LeetCode problems, on the easier side of medium difficulty.
