Customer Support Specialist
The interview started with an initial chat with an associate recruiter that lasted about 25-30 minutes, asking usual questions. I got an update an hour later that I passed. Next was a ClickUp mini-project where I had to make a video using their software, due in 3 days, which felt short but they allowed extensions. If the project passed review, the next stage was a 1-hour interview with two managers. This involved a technical part with a live demo of the software and then a behavioral interview with typical customer service questions. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the third stage, but the overall experience was good, and the recruiter was very responsive.

I had an initial phone screening and they seemed really positive about my salary expectations with my 4+ years of experience. They then scheduled a second phone interview with the department manager, who told me the job would actually require 50-60 hour work weeks. I was okay with this, but then they said the pay would be about $5k less than the listed starting salary. I looked at other jobs, but they reached out again a few months later saying they could match my salary. I went through the whole first interview process again and then spent a lot of time on a project they gave me. I was excited about the possibility of working at a startup, but they told me a second time that the highest salary they'd offer was about $10k less than the initial offer and that weekends might be required. I don't mind putting in the effort for interviews, working extra hours, or even weekends, but I wish they'd been upfront about their actual offer. It felt like a waste of my time because the details about the job offer were inconsistent with what was advertised and discussed.
- Would you be open to working on weekends?
- Can you work more than 40 hours a week?
- What would you do if a customer was upset or unhappy?

The interview process took about a month from application to the final interview. I worked with an agency called Aerotek throughout the process. They were great, very helpful and answered all my questions. The mini project took way longer than expected, almost a full day to learn the platform and film myself. I enjoyed it though. They are very picky. They got back to me the day after my last interview with the results, saying I needed to be more knowledgeable about the tech, which I thought wasn't great feedback. I was honest when I didn't know something, and I told them I knew how to find the answers. I put in a lot of extra effort because I really wanted the job, even joining Facebook ClickUp groups to learn more before the final interview. I think I would have been a great fit, but it's unfortunate they are so hard to get into. Overall, the process was fine and smooth. It's a lot of work but seems worth it if you get the job. Aerotek reps said I was one of their best candidates due to my passion. They look for drive and passion, which I have, but maybe I didn't convey it well enough or they're not good at hiring. My advice is to only apply if you're confident you can get it, otherwise, it's a waste of time. The ClickUp hiring team for the final interview was nice and made me feel comfortable. I love the company and product, and I wish I could have been hired.
