First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
Engagement Specialist
It was a very quick phone interview. They are really strict about the qualifications they want. If you don't have the qualifications they prefer, then don't bother applying. They are only looking for years of experience. Education, degrees, awards, references, or other job experience? None of that matters. They are also really focused on experience in an urban setting and with urban youth. Experience with youth in a non-urban setting doesn't seem to cut it for them.
- Can you tell me how many years of experience you have in this role?
Executive Assistant
The interview process was really thorough and quick, but the decision-making part took a while. I liked how organized everything was and all the people I met were genuine. They made me feel comfortable throughout. The office had a great vibe and is in a prime spot downtown. I'd love to join this team, now or later.
- What would your previous supervisor say are your strengths and areas for improvement?
- What is your understanding of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District?
- What motivates your interest in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District?
Principal
The process was really smooth and I felt informed. I started at a job fair that lasted about 4 hours. I had my documents ready and talked with a few principals in a big room with other people applying. After that, some principals picked me for a second interview at their school, which was in a different room. I then got invited to interview at the school that same week and they offered me the job.
- Can you share your experience with coaching teachers?
Coach
Everyone applying goes through the same questions. It's always a group interview. They try to interview at least 3 people for each job, and if you already work here, you get looked at first.
- Can you share your coaching background?
- What specific experiences prompted your application for this role?
- How do you differentiate yourself from other candidates?
