First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cleveland Clinic.
Lab Technician
I applied over the weekend and got a call from the lab supervisor the same week to set up an interview. The interview was with three people: the supervisor, a team leader, and a lab member. They started by talking about the position, work hours, benefits, and parking. Then they tried to scare me by mentioning drug/smoking testing if I got the position, so I should be prepared. They could be engaging or show no emotion. At the end of their questions, they showed me where I'd be working so I could get a good understanding. If you don't have questions at the end or don't want to walk around the lab, they might not be interested in you.
- Why are you interested in working here?
- How do you handle working with someone who has a different perspective or way of thinking?
- Describe your approach when you disagree with a person or group.
Lab Technician
There were 2 interviews for this role. The first was a phone interview. It wasn't too tough; they mostly asked about salary, shift times, and location, plus some general interview stuff. The second interview was more in-depth, so make sure you do your research and are ready.
- Are you comfortable working in a fast-paced setting?
- How has your past work experience shaped you as an employee?
- Can you share an experience related to conflict resolution?
Lab Technician
I've gone through three interviews at CCF for lab medicine roles, and I got hired for all of them. It seems like each department handles the process a bit differently. For the first lab tech job, things moved really fast from applying to starting. The other two took way longer, stretching out over two months each.
- In five years, where do you see your career path leading?
- Could you describe your aspirations for your career and education?
- Can you recall a challenging situation you encountered and explain how you managed it?
