Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cleveland Clinic.
Financial Analyst
So it was 3 rounds total. First round was just an email exchange with HR to make sure I had the basic qualifications. Second round was a Teams call with the Senior Manager and the Director of FP&A. The final round was this long 2-hour panel interview with people from different departments I'd be working with, like HR, Accounting, and others on the FP&A team.
- Can you tell me about a past mistake you made and how you resolved it?
Financial Analyst
The initial phone screen didn't involve any questions. The next interview was virtual with the manager and some team members. They mentioned I'd hear back in a few days, which felt positive. However, after a week of no response, I reached out to the recruiter, but they never got back to me. Two weeks later, I received a rejection email. I'm guessing I was their backup choice and they were just waiting to see if their top candidate passed the background and drug screening.
- Can you tell me about a time you used analytical skills?
- Given that we deal with many vendors and sometimes they don't provide what we need, how would you approach communicating this to them?
- What is your level of experience with Excel?
Financial Analyst
The recruiter contacted me and gave me some questions to answer before moving me to the next stage. It was pretty standard, going over my past experience and skills, particularly in budgeting, forecasting, Excel, and Tableau.
