& Process

Applied and heard back two weeks later. Had a 30-minute phone screen that they said went well. They mentioned they'd be in touch in a week, but I never heard back, even after I followed up. Kind of a bummer they didn't at least let me know I didn't get the job.

Started with an interview call with the head of product. Then an onsite with the team that lasted a few hours. The onsite was broken down into a brainstorm session. First, they give you a topic and you come up with a solution. They don't collaborate, they just stare at you while you solution. Second, you build the wireframes on your computer, so make sure to bring your necessary devices. Third, there's a series of interviews with team members (1-3 people). Fourth, there are final round conversations with the head of product. The people seem nice but they aren't straightforward, pretty wishy-washy. So if you are looking for transparency, don't expect it. They are looking for a unicorn designer. Not a great place to expand your career skills. There is no design team and it's not a technology company.

This was a disappointing interview experience. I spoke with several company leaders who outlined their need for a CISO to improve their security and compliance, as well as aid in their sales cycle. Things seemed fine, and I was supposed to talk to the CEO next, but that meeting was never scheduled. I was completely ghosted and never received a rejection. Later, I noticed the position was changed to a director-level role and promoted differently in professional communities. The company and its leadership seem uncoordinated and don't respect a professional's time.

I chatted with a bunch of the team members. They made it super easy to figure out if this was the right place for me. They were always on top of their follow-ups and I ended up with a fantastic offer. I got to meet everyone on the team and ask all the things I needed to know to make a solid decision.
