First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cleco.
Mechanical Engineer
It was a multi-stage interview process with gates. The interviewers were helpful and knew their stuff. Everything was done over Microsoft Teams. I got feedback really fast after each interview, and they told me what to expect next.
- Were you authorized to work in the US?
Risk Control Analyst
It started with an HR screening for about 20 mins. Then, I had a 30-minute interview with the Hiring Manager. The final stage was a 'Superday' which involved 5 separate 30-minute rounds with different managers from related departments like Accounting, Trading, Quant Risk, Treasury, and Compliance, plus the VP of Risk.
- Can you tell me more about your resume?
- Can you explain Natural Gas?
- What do you know about exchanges?
Information Security Analyst, IT Business Analyst, Network Systems Engineer
The scheduling process for all three positions I interviewed for were easy and straightforward. There were two rounds of interviews for each. The people are very nice and kind. If you want to work a clear cut bureaucratic company with a 1980s frat boy work culture, this is the company for you. If you want to grow and be paid what your worth, go somewhere else. I took this as a sign that no employer in CENLA will pay to retain tech talent with salary. I love living in my hometown, but employers here pay low unless in healthcare as a doctor or nurse. You will make as much as a director at Cleco makes at a mid level remote role based out of state. I also wonder what more people can't work from home with these tech jobs.
- Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- Can you discuss your programming background?
- What is your experience level with SAP or Workday?
Data Scientist
A 4-hour technical interview covering live coding and machine learning knowledge. Relevant work experience matching the job description is important. There will also be a case interview about utility, which you should approach using Machine Learning system design principles. SQL skills will also be assessed.
- Machine learning and deep learning knowledge and live coding
