Debt Consultant
It was pretty detailed, they ask you to role-play and there were some straightforward questions about your strengths and many other questions about your strengths. What makes you a good sales person?
- Could you role-play helping a client?
HR Business Partner
I was contacted by the Recruitment Manager, Matt, who was friendly and asked relevant questions over the phone. Then, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager where we had an open discussion about skills, the business, and more. The final stage was an in-person interview where I met with the hiring manager, the HR team, and finally the EVP. The experience was great and felt complete. I got an offer and I'm happy in my current role. The process was smooth and communication from the company was excellent throughout.
- Can you tell me about your skills and experience?
- How do you see your background fitting in with COA?
- What potential challenges or differences do you anticipate at COA, and how would you approach them?
Negotiator
The interview experience was pretty bad from the start. I usually check salary info before applying, and reviews suggested around 50k base with over 100k potential bonus/commission. But they said the base is $37500 and making six figures is really hard, only for top, long-term employees. That was strike one. Strike two was the interview with two women, Keisha and Carolyn. They were condescending and their expressions made it obvious they weren't really engaged or listening. They kept challenging my answers, which was weird. As someone who used to recruit, I almost ended the interview multiple times, but I tried to stay professional even though it was clear they weren't interested. I thought this job didn't require super specific debt negotiation experience, but they asked detailed questions about it and then acted like they were teaching me the answers, which felt hostile. It was the strangest interview in my 20+ year career. I could share more negative details, but it's not worth it. Even if they offered me the job, I wouldn't have taken it because working under those two women, who clearly had issues, would have been a nightmare. I'd never treat an interviewee like that and would always be respectful. Keisha even made a comment like 'even if you were to get the job...' which made me think it would be a toxic workplace. I wanted to leave immediately but respected their time. Save yourself the time and energy.
- Can you describe your approach to settling a debt, for example, with OneMain?
Account Executive
I got the job after applying through Indeed and then the recruiter, Matt Levin, reached out within a few days. He was really upbeat and set up an interview with some managers at their Chandler office. When I got there, I had to do some paperwork before interviewing with Rondell and Brian. The interview felt pretty encouraging and professional, and the office itself was really modern, clean, and professional.
- What's your motivation for working in debt consolidation?
- Why are you interested in Clear One Advantage specifically?
- Can you describe the most challenging work situation you've faced?
