First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Clearbrook Agency.
QIDP
First, I had a couple of questions from the person who would be my supervisor. Then, I met with my direct supervisor for the first interview. Right after that, I had my second interview with the assistant director, as they were in the office. My third interview was with the director of the CILA department. I think my direct supervisor gave me the job offer later that same day.
- How would you practice self-care to manage the stress associated with this role?
QIDP
I applied online and got a call about ten days later. The recruiter asked some basic stuff like why I'm interested in the company. The actual interview was a few days after that and went for about two hours. I talked to my potential supervisor for an hour and then her boss, the Assistant Director, for another hour. After that, I had a final interview with the Director of the Unit. As I was leaving that interview, I got an email asking for my references. They were super quick; my references got called right away and I got the job offer less than two hours after that. All three people I met were really nice and seemed to love what they do, which made me feel pretty comfortable. It was a little weird though, they didn't finalize the offer until after a background and drug test. I had to do the drug test and physical after I'd already started orientation. Maybe that's normal in Illinois since I'm moving from out of state. Once I was officially hired, I had to do a reading test, fill out a paper application, and write about my management experience and working with people with intellectual disabilities. I also had to bring my degree. If you're applying for other QIDP jobs, remember to bring an unofficial transcript, not official.
- What motivates you to want to join our company?
- Can you share a personal weakness?
- What do you consider to be your greatest strength?
Supportive Living Assistant
The interview process was very simple and straightforward. I had one phone call and a very brief interview about my experience and what I am looking for before they set me up for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was followed by a video and a reading comprehension test. The reading test was straightforward and simple. I'm not exactly sure what reading level it was testing for, but my guess would be at the 8th grade level. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is definitely a big plus.
- How would you handle a client showing aggressive behavior?
DSP
It was a pretty long process, and there was a reading test that didn't seem to be related to client care. They really seemed to be focused on finding the best person for the job. It was also clear they care a lot about their clients' needs, judging by the educational requirements.
