First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cleanaway.
Key Account Manager
The interview felt like a natural, professional discussion. They didn't seem to stick to a script, asking questions that felt tailored to the conversation. It covered my experience and what they're looking for in the role, flowing really well. Left a great impression.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to resolve a conflict that is relevant to this position?
Technical Officer
I went through 4 rounds of interviews. The first three were phone calls with HR, and the final one was a technical interview with the hiring manager. This was the worst interview experience I've had, with very little professionalism from HR. After I finished my interview with the hiring manager, the HR person just ended the Teams call without even a thank you for the hours I spent on the interviews. I called the HR back to thank her and see if she had any follow-up questions, but she was unprofessional and didn't respond, not even with an automated update on my application status. I've worked for many international companies and am confident I did nothing wrong; I was respectful throughout. This interview really showed me the toxic culture, lack of professionalism, and disrespect at Cleanaway at that time. I hope this was just an isolated incident, but I'm sharing this so others can be aware and make informed decisions.
- Tell me about yourself and your career goals.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Would you be willing to travel to our site in the western suburbs?
Driver Operator
I applied through an agency and got an interview. The interviewer said I was earmarked for a specific client/run and everything seemed really positive. After the interview, I did a medical and a DA test at the company's request the day after. The day after that, they told me they weren't moving forward, giving the standard excuse that there were better candidates. It's frustrating because I passed the medical and DA test, and they wasted my time with it if they weren't going to make an offer or give a real reason.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in this position?
Lead Architect
The interview process was quite fast-paced, aiming for a quick hire. It involved three rounds, but after the final one, they said they needed someone more hands-on. It's odd because it's a lead architect role, but they expected a grunt worker. This really didn't match the job description at all, and it left me super frustrated. I'm an experienced pro with a strong background, and never in my career has anyone told me I didn't want to roll up my sleeves. It feels like a place where things are backwards.
- Can you show me an example of your relentlessness?
