To be considered for this role, you first had to be an existing employee within the department. The interview involved a group of people asking you questions about how you would handle specific situations. Each interviewer took turns asking their questions. This type of interview might make some people feel uneasy, particularly if they don't know the interviewers. However, because I was already acquainted with the interviewers, the process felt less stressful.

I applied online and got a call back within a couple days. The whole process, from the initial call to starting the job, took about a week and a half. After applying online, I received a call to set up an in-person interview. I spoke with the Assistant Director of Landscaping and the Lead Landscaping field person. They mostly just went over the job description with me rather than asking me interview questions. I think being personable and having some relevant experience on my resume helped me get the job. I got a call offering me the position three days after the interview. I didn't have to go through any training or drug testing, just got told to show up and start.

The interview process was really organized and the staff made me feel comfortable. I was able to meet current staff members in the department, and it wasn't intimidating. It made me excited to work for the department! The interview took place in the office where I would be working, and I was able to meet my potential advisor. I would have liked to meet other advisors to hear about their experiences, but the interviewers still gave me great insight into the position and their expectations for candidates.

We had a panel ask questions and then I had to do a presentation about the department. The presentation covered the pros and cons of working in higher education and how the center for academic success helps students. I was also asked how I would make the department better and improve on programs.
