First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Claim Jumper Restaurants.
Host
Applied through Indeed and received a phone call within a few days. I first met with the back-of-house manager, and then shortly after, I met with the front-of-house manager. They asked me questions about my previous experience. I received a job offer before I even left the premises.
- Are you a team player?
Server
The interview was short, about 15-30 minutes. I met with two managers and got hired right away. It was a basic interview where they asked about my past experience. I started as a host, then got promoted to runner after 6 months. A year later, I became a server, and I've been serving since. It's a good place to work if you want to move up in your career.
- What motivates your interest in this position?
Hostess
It was a really standard process. First, a phone call, then an in-person interview. I got the offer right there on the spot. Some people I know heard back in 3-5 days though. Just be ready. Make sure you know about the role you're applying for. I'd suggest wearing all black, and no tie.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a challenging guest and explain your approach?
- Tell me about your background in hosting.
Food Server
I found out about the job while I was walking through the wall, and there was a store the restaurant had 'borrowed' for a week or people to come in and interview at. The first meeting with the hiring managers was pleasant. I filled out an application right there and was asked to come back the next day with some references. After this second interview, there was a group interview several days later. It was after that that I was finally contacted via telephone with a job offer. All of this for a Server position seemed a little much to me.
- How would you handle a situation where you saw a co-worker, who is also your best friend, being rude to or mistreating a customer?
- Do you enjoy birdwatching?
