Management Trainee
I interviewed with CJD Consulting in early June of 2013. A recruiter called me a few hours after I put my resume online. It was the first phone interview, very short, mostly to set up an in-person interview at their office. The in-person interview was about 30 minutes with the office manager. He didn't ask many questions, mostly just talked about the job's responsibilities. This is when they finally admitted it's all door-to-door sales. They asked if I was okay with that. Since I felt I didn't have many choices, I agreed to a final interview, which was an all-day job shadow. I followed a 'management trainee' (aka door-to-door salesman) for 8 hours trying to sell printer ink and paper in a small town outside Indianapolis. They even make you wear a suit, which is hilarious given how unprofessional the company is. After the job shadow, there was a quick 10-15 minute closing interview with the office manager. I got an offer a few days later but turned it down after seeing how things worked. This company is dishonest. They talk about 'salary plus bonus' to make it sound like guaranteed pay, but the commission structure means you get nothing if you don't sell anything. They hire anyone and are always interviewing groups, with about 8 people interviewing each day I was there.
- Are you okay with performing D2D sales?
Financial Advisor
I applied online and then got a call to set up a 1-on-1 interview at their office in Indianapolis. When I got there, I checked in at the front desk and waited about 5 minutes. The assistant came out and gave me a form to fill out. After waiting another 20 minutes, the interviewer called me in. The interview itself was about 20 minutes long, and it felt fast-paced but pretty relaxed.
- What kind of business would you start if you could have your own?
- What are three traits of a good entrepreneur?
- What made you choose this career path?
Account Executive
First, I got an offer email, to which I responded. They then called back to discuss the position and conduct an initial screening. I arrived and checked in at the front desk. The person who called me then met me and I had to fill out a short, one-page form. Following that, I had a one-on-one interview with the hiring manager. He spent about ten to fifteen minutes explaining the company's business. Then, he asked if I had any questions, and I was expected to ask them. He seemed eager to answer briefly, maybe in one or two sentences, and repeatedly asked, "Any more questions?" after each response. This gave me the impression he might have been holding back information, though I acknowledge this is just my perception and doesn't necessarily mean they were being deceptive.
- Can you name 3 qualities of a good entrepreneur?
Marketing and Sales
the human resources lady was very polite and helpful in answering all of my questions. i should have expected this from a company with a very high turnover rate due to the nature of the business. i was informed that ninety percent of employees hired people do not stay with the company due to the high rejection rate of the sales process.
