CEC reached out and requested an initial phone interview. After a pretty straightforward general interview with an HR person, I was told that we would move forward and schedule a call with the regional manager. After ten days of no response, I followed up to see if the company was still interested in an interview. They assured me they were. Another two weeks of silence. I followed up a final time, and was again assured that the team wanted to speak with me. Then complete silence since that last contact. I was really interested in the job, and am quite disappointed in the lack of successful communication.

I was reached out by a recruiter for a senior position with business development responsibilities in Michigan. After some phone calls, I met with the office manager in Novi, MI. The interview was casual. The manager mentioned they needed to grow their work with current clients. He gave me an application and asked me to schedule another meeting with the corporate leader. After leaving, the recruiter called and said I'd need to bring clients to be considered, which surprised me as it contradicted the office manager's earlier statements. I confirmed if client contacts were needed, and they said no. I tried to call the office manager for clarification but got no response. I was quite surprised and let down by their unprofessional approach.

Had a video panel interview with some really out-there questions about Civil 3D and AutoCAD. One engineer was letting people walk in and out of his office asking him questions while he was interviewing me. Towards the end, this guy just blurted out that he wouldn't hire me full-time but would put me on contract to show the rest of the team what I could do. It was super unprofessional, and the rest of the team didn't seem to have the right interviewing skills for the job.

I talked with the VP of the Phoenix area who spent a lot of time going over my background and qualifications. CEC, Inc. also had me complete a paper application requesting personal references and approval for background information. I felt the corporate culture was professional and knowledgeable, and also very welcoming given my experience in the field. The benefits for new hires are great, and I was fortunate to get an interview.
