I started with a phone screening with a recruiter who basically told me about the company. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview. I traveled to their office, which was in a surprisingly casual and unprofessional-looking environment, kind of like a lively adult arcade. I was then taken to a room by the recruiter where I had to rate myself on certain characteristics and list three strengths and three weaknesses. The recruiter passed my self-assessment to a manager who seemed arrogant and old-school. He questioned my self-rating and then explained the company's business, which is essentially subprime lending, despite their claims of not engaging in predatory practices. My initial high expectations for the company significantly dropped after this meeting. I followed up with a thank-you email and a week later inquired about the status, but never heard back, which I found unprofessional for a new company.

Got referred by a friend, which apparently gets them a bonus. Sent in my resume since it's a small, growing company and they don't have a formal application. Had an initial phone interview, then one with the Recruiter. After that, I talked to the President who asked about my motivations and past experience. Then I interviewed with the VP, though he mostly just talked about the company and its vision. All these interviews happened on the same day. Got an email saying congratulations and they asked for 3 references. They called all three references and then gave me a call back confirming they checked out good. I started 2 weeks later, as they have monthly start dates for bankers. The first day was just filling out formal paperwork.

Applied on Indeed. Got a call from the recruiter with a very brief phone interview and promptly set up an in-person interview. Took a tour with the recruiter, then talked with CEO's son-in-law. He asked basic interview questions then took me over to meet another employee and asked me to sell the employee a pen. If you don't pass this stage you are sent home. If you pass you talk to the CEO; more of a conversation.

After that, I met with a more senior person, and we discussed my past work and the job details. Finally, they called me to congratulate me and asked for three references, specifically from people who managed me directly.
