First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CITYarts.
Communications Manager
The interview process was quick and to the point. Everyone was kind and I enjoyed it. I was able to start immediately.
- Can you describe your experience with social media?
Project Coordinator
The office was pretty empty when I arrived. A video featuring only the founder was shown. Tsipi met me, shook my hand, but didn't introduce herself. She then asked about my use of they/them pronouns, why I use them, and what they mean to me. I found this question inappropriate for an interview, and mentioned that. She seemed proud of being unconventional and tried to contradict me throughout the conversation. She never asked about my work or experience. I was asked to write a page about myself, my thoughts on CITYarts, and then left the paper on an empty desk as no one was present when I exited.
- You use they/them pronouns? Can you explain why?
- What are your thoughts on CITYarts?
Project Manager
First, you watch a video about CITYarts - its history and what it's done. Then, a coordinator comes in to ask you some questions. After that, the coordinator leaves, and you'll write a short essay to answer more questions.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with us?
- What prior knowledge did you possess about CITYarts before this interview?
- What is your current understanding of CITYarts and its programs?
Accountant
HR had me watch an intro video about CITYarts. Then HR asked general questions like 'why hire you?', 'any experience?', 'tell me about yourself', 'how did you hear about us?', and 'why here?'. After that, I was given a paper to write an essay on my pre-video knowledge, post-video knowledge, expectations for the role, and my potential contributions.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you want to work here?
- How did you find out about this job?
