First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City Winery.
Event Manager
Got referred for the role. They set up a video interview pretty fast. Then there was a lot of silence for weeks, and then they told me they chose someone else. The interview process itself was alright. I didn't really like how they didn't communicate after the interview.
- What's your approach when dealing with an unhappy customer?
Finance Analyst
The recruiter or HR person reached out to me on Linkedin to schedule an interview. I tried multiple times to send my availability, confirm, and schedule a call, but the HR person never called or followed up. It was extremely unprofessional to reach out to people and then not follow up. This person is clearly active since they're posting on Linkedin about company outings. It seems like subpar staff and probably a subpar business based on reviews. I think I dodged a toxic environment based on what reviews say here on Glassdoor. I would avoid at all costs!
- Why did you schedule a call with me on a Friday afternoon and then not follow up?
Event Sales Manager
The application was straightforward. My recruiter was based in Chicago, and the hiring manager was in Nashville. I scheduled a second interview with my Nashville-based hiring manager via Calendly, but I'm not sure if they actually monitor their calendars closely. I wasn't contacted, and the hiring manager later told the recruiter she had tried to reach me, which isn't true. She didn't leave a voicemail or email to follow up on a confirmed appointment for that day. I withdrew my application after that.
- Can you share some sales management experiences you've had?
- What is your total experience in sales and events?
- Have you worked in live music previously?
Intern
I had a one-on-one meeting with the Hiring Authority, who was great. The overall experience was professional, welcoming, and informative. Although my skills weren't a match for the role, the Hiring Authority referred me to another Music Booking Agency. I ended up getting hired after just one phone call because of that referral. They didn't have to help me, but they did, which makes me think City Winery has a positive and collaborative work environment.
- What are your methods for keeping current with trends in the music industry?
