The process started with submitting a resume and cover letter. Then there was a phone interview. After that, I went in to talk to four people from the Office. We discussed my background in international relations and city administration, my strengths and weaknesses, and my reasons for studying what I'm studying. They left the room to deliberate and then came back to tell me I would be interviewed by the Deputy Commissioner. This interview focused on aspects of my previous professional work experience that he found most interesting, and I shared what I enjoyed most during my time at those organizations. A few weeks after, the Office called to offer me the position. A background check followed, which took over a month and a half to complete.
