First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City of Miami Beach.
System Analyst
I talked to 2 managers and another systems analyst. It was an informal interview where we discussed my background in Tech and my previous job responsibilities, mainly to confirm I had the necessary knowledge.
- Tell me about your experience with .NET.
- What can you tell me about your experience with databases?
- Can you describe your experience with Xamarin?
Civil Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview with some generic questions. I don't think the interviewers, besides HR, even bothered to look at my resume, since the answers to some questions were already written there. The interviewers seemed to have a pretty entitled attitude, though maybe that was intentional to test how candidates handle pressure. I didn't make it to the second round, and honestly, I wouldn't have accepted it anyway since they required me to come in person for the second interview and wouldn't cover any travel costs.
- Can you tell me about your experience with XYZ?
Intern
The interviewer was really positive. We mostly chatted about the job itself, the department's current challenges, its shortcomings, and potential strategies to address them. It felt more like a discussion than a formal interview, which is good since this was for an internship and not a full-time role. Overall, it was a professional and engaging meeting, making me feel valued and not just like a student expected to do menial tasks without regard for my learning goals.
- In what areas do you believe you can contribute?
Human Resources Specialist
It felt like the interview process was very impersonal. There wasn't much real engagement or connection. The interactions were super formal, and I didn't get much chance to talk about my strengths or values. It was hard to build any kind of rapport or feel like I belonged.
