First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City of Fremont California.
Youth Program Coordinator
The interview took a lot of my time. The interviewer seemed uninterested. I was told I'd hear back after the weekend, but it's been three weeks now.
- Can you share an instance where you had to handle a challenging work situation?
Engineering Technician
The interview process consisted of a single round. After applying, the whole thing took a couple of weeks. I didn't hear back from HR after the interview.
- Could you answer a technical question?
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Specialist
They start with a phone call where they ask about your experience and your motivation for joining the department. After that, you have to complete a personal history questionnaire. It seems that being completely honest on this questionnaire might actually hurt your chances, as people who were truthful didn't move forward, while those who weren't might have been selected. They don't offer any feedback, which is pretty suspicious. I'd suggest applying to another agency because this one might be racially biased. You might get an email saying you have to wait a year to re-apply, which could be a sign they're just trying to avoid you.
- Could you describe your experience and explain why you are interested in this specific role?
- What are your motivations for seeking employment with this department?
- How familiar are you with the responsibilities and requirements of this position?
Building Attendant
After some initial information and questions, there was a process to get started, followed by the usual paperwork. They will email you after the interview, and then you start your training.
- Describe how you would handle a given situation.
