It was a pretty standard interview. It would be helpful to know some stuff about the city beforehand. If you have a general business background, you should be fine. Fort Worth tends to use panel interviews, so be prepared for that.

The interview itself was an in-person panel type, which was fine. However, the scheduling and initial communication were really bad. I didn't get confirmation on the location until the last minute, and by then, traffic was terrible because it was across town. I ended up being a minute late. It felt strange to be judged so intensely for a job when the scheduler couldn't even manage their responsibilities.

The hiring manager made a pointed comment about wanting employees willing to put in the work and not be complacent working virtually, which made me feel like they were commenting on me. At the start of the interview, none of the 3 panel members had my resume, showing neglect and disrespect. The questions were basic, covering previous budget experience and behavioral-type questions. They really focused on how I would get work from another employee on a tight deadline, insisting on details and emphasizing the problem, making me give additional answers. This suggested a workplace issue with meeting deadlines and getting people to do their work. The panel showed complete disregard and disinterest, with stone-cold faces, making me feel like I was interrupting their morning. This indicated a poor department work culture. I was happy to not receive an offer and believe I dodged a bullet.

I went to a hiring event where there were lots of people, it wasn't very organized. I sat with many other people interviewing. First, I talked to someone who asked me general questions. They asked how I would interact with a Customer and then asked me to roleplay a generic conversation. After that, I was moved to another person who asked me how I would handle a difficult customer and to roleplay that situation and what I would do to fix it.
