HR set up a virtual interview a few days before. The interview process was straightforward. It was a panel interview, and the staff were very welcoming and asked interesting questions. They readily offered more information too.

Behavioral Other

It was a normal interview, nothing too out there. They asked me questions about my past experience. I noticed some people interviewing me weren't from the department I was applying to, and their questions didn't really seem relevant to the job I was interviewing for. Turns out, they were looking to hire me for their own department, which I found out later.

Behavioral Technical Other

I applied online through the City's website. After about three months, I got a questionnaire to check my skills for the job. Then, two weeks after I sent it back, they set up an interview. I had a one-on-one with the manager of the department, and they offered me the job the very next day. It took about a month to get to orientation because of the background check and the holidays, though.

Technical Presentation

First, you need to create a profile on the City of El Paso website and then apply for the job. After that, you wait to be called for a test, or if it's an unclassified position, you'll be put on a list. Then comes the test itself. If you rank high enough, you'll be called for an interview, which is a panel interview. Finally, you wait for the results.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Be prepared to write an essay as part of the testing process.
