& Process

I had an interview for the project manager role. It was a one-hour virtual meeting with 8 people from different departments. We started with introductions, and I explained my background and how we handle projects at my current job. One person asked me to explain my current process, and I reiterated my role and responsibilities. Some then asked standard questions, reading from a paper. The whole thing felt like a formality, and they finished in 30 minutes instead of an hour. It seemed like a pre-planned event for audit and paperwork, as the candidate was already chosen. I received a rejection call the next day.

I applied online, and about a month later, I got an email to set up an interview for the following week. I went in for a panel interview at city hall, and the DTV staff were really nice. It was a pretty fast interview process, mostly covering my education and past experience. They asked standard questions. About 4 days after that, the hiring manager reached out with an update on the position, which I really appreciated because a lot of companies don't update you if they decide not to offer you the job.

I applied online and then got a call mid-day from an Athletics supervisor. They asked me about my preference for part-time or full-time work, weekend availability, and my experience with parks and recreation. We set up an interview for the following week. The next interview was with both the youth sports supervisor and the Athletics supervisor. They asked me about my past work experience and then about how I'd handle different situations, like dealing with upset patrons or parents and with injured athletes. Even though they seemed a bit bored during the interview, which made me think I did poorly, I was offered the job less than a week later.

The interview process with the City of Denton is pretty standard, aiming to quickly check if candidates are a good fit and have the right skills for the job. I had a panel interview with the hiring manager, some team folks, and an HR person. We talked about my experience and knowledge related to the role. They asked questions about how I'd handle situations, particularly concerning company-wide employee development programs and projects. It's important to know about the ADDIE model, Kirkpatrick's evaluations, and how to present ideas to leadership.
