City of Chandler Interview Questions
& Process

The first round was a one-way video interview. The second round was an in-person panel interview. The whole process took about 1.5 months from applying to finding out if I got selected. The interview was held at a building near Chandler City Hall.

I had a phone interview initially with three people. Then a few days after that, they called to set up a face to face interview. This interview was with a panel of three people. They didn't ask me for references initially, so I assumed I wasn't being considered for the job. A couple days later, my current supervisor let me know they had called her for a reference, which I thought was strange since they hadn't asked me for any. Since I thought I wasn't considered, I went ahead and accepted another job offer I had gotten. However, on Friday of that same week, they offered me the position, but I had to decline because I had already accepted another role.

The interview process felt cold, uninteresting, and discriminatory from the start. There was an air of indifference, and I felt like the outcome was predetermined. It was a 2-person panel. One interviewer was interested in my past experiences, but the other, a middle-aged Black woman, seemed to have a chip on her shoulder about me being a middle-aged white male. Every time I answered a question, she would just shake her head and make notes. She repeatedly asked me the same question, rephrased in four different ways.

The interview was super professional and made me feel really comfortable. It was a round-table style with four interviewers asking questions one by one. I was given a list of questions to reference, which helped me make sure I covered all parts of what they were asking.
