The hiring manager reached out to me directly and gave me details about the role. I then received an email with information about the City of Calgary's hiring process. Following that, I had a formal online interview with the hiring manager and two team members. It was mostly behavioral questions. The second interview involved more in-depth questions about my background. The interviewers were really supportive throughout the whole process, which made it a positive experience, even though I didn't get the job.

Behavioral Group

I applied online and got a call for an interview. It was a team interview with the hiring manager, one of their direct reports, and an HR rep. They really focus on the STARS method (situation, task, action, result) and don't spend much time talking about past jobs. I got an offer about a week after the interview and took it.

Behavioral Technical

I had an interview on Nov. 15th 2013 for the Process Procedure & Report Analyst position with Public Safety Communications. The interviewer explained that all behavioral questions would follow the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Answers should be structured under each STAR component. You could skip questions but had to return to them later. All examples needed to be phrased in the STAR format.
