First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City Lifestyle.
Director of Marketing
I first spoke with the recruiter, and that was a good, professional conversation. Then I interviewed with the Chief of Staff. That conversation was tough and critical, not collaborative. They made negative remarks about supporting franchisees with marketing. I decided to pull my application after that interview.
- Can you explain why your resume only lists experience starting from 2020?
- What's the reason for the frequent job changes you've had?
Customer Support Specialist
So, first thing was this online personality test thing on Oct 13. Then on Oct 19, I got an email for a phone interview, which was the next day, Friday. After that, they emailed me for an in-person interview, set for the next Monday, Oct 23. Compared to other jobs, this whole thing moved super fast. By the end of the interview, I really thought I'd get an offer. They mentioned they'd been trying to hire for this role since July with no luck. First, they said I'd hear back in about a week, either way. Then, after I sent a thank you email, they said closer to two weeks. I followed up again after 3 weeks, and they said they'd be "making a decision within a week." I haven't heard anything since, and it's now mid-December. So, I guess no response.
- Can you tell me about your customer service experience?
- What's your familiarity with our publications?
Publisher
We conducted several phone and zoom interviews to get to know you better and understand your career goals to make sure this is a great fit for both of us. It started with an introductory phone call, followed by a zoom meeting. Then, there was a virtual training session and an in-person training session to confirm it's a good fit.
- What makes you a strong candidate for the publisher position?
Graphic Designer
It was a pretty standard interview, though it went on for a bit longer than I expected. They threw in some questions about my experience that weren't directly related to graphic design. I got the sense they were really looking for someone who knew a lot about stuff outside of just design, like photography, web design, and making email content templates. I figured I wasn't the right fit because of that.
- Can you describe your work ethic?
- How do you approach your work ethic?
