I was invited to interview as a MANAGER. I walk into my interview and there's 10 other people for all positions waiting. So I believe they never took a look at my app, they just held open interviews. I have a year of management experience but 10+ years bartending experience. Mind you, this is a tiny boat with maybe a few servers/bartenders working at a time. I’ve managed teams of almost 30 people. She kept trying to get me to apply to be a bartender for $17.95 an hour. I asked if I could get tips on top of that and she said possibly, but not guaranteed. What kind of bartender position doesn’t guarantee tips!??? And what kind of bartender would work for less than $18/hour? I declined. Not worth it.

I talked to the first officer for about forty five minutes. They were really nice and genuine. We went over the basics of seamanship and what the job needs. I also asked about chances to move up, and they said it's pretty likely you'll get promoted.
