First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Citrus Studios.
Web Designer
The interview started with a Zoom call with the CEO. It was scheduled for 30 minutes but went longer, about 50 minutes. Later that day, she emailed to ask if we could meet for coffee. We ended up meeting for dinner at the Palisades, where we talked about training start dates, pay, and details about a work laptop. It felt like she was assuming I got the job. The next day, her husband interviewed me. It went well, but I got a weird vibe when I expressed hesitation about the pay and the job title. The role was advertised as Web Designer, but it seemed like it involved a lot more: creating web designs, assisting with photoshoots, company branding, copywriting, and project management – like six jobs in one. I didn't want to be solely a Web Designer given the scope. They said they'd get back to me. About 30 minutes after that interview, they sent an email saying they decided to go in a different direction. That was it. I was relieved because I didn't think the pay was sufficient and I was concerned about negative employee reviews on Glassdoor.
- Who do you look up to?
- Can you explain the distinction between an artist and a designer?
Web Design Project Manager
It was a pretty smooth and easy process. It started with a phone screening and then I was brought into the office to meet the rest of the team. The CEO had a one on one interview with me and it was very conversational and non threatening. They described projects that they were working on and how my skills would fit into those projects.
- Can you tell me about your overall experience in this field?
Project Coordinator
The interview process was quite fast, and I went in twice before getting an offer. I interviewed with the founder and also met some of the team members I'd be working with.
- How did you work with designers?
