Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Citi.
Internship
I applied online with my CV and cover letter, then I did a Plum assessment. Later, I got invited for interviews. There were two 30-minute interviews on the same day. The first was technical, so I made sure to understand what the department does. The interviewer was a bit hard to connect with and kept telling me not to be nervous, which felt a bit condescending. The second interview was behavioral. The interviewer was nice and polite, but it felt very structured, like they were just reading from a list and moving on quickly.
- What's your take on how recent global or economic news affects the bank?
- Can you share an experience about teamwork?
- How do you handle receiving feedback?
Intern
This was a really great interview experience! The interviewer was incredibly friendly and communicative, which helped me feel comfortable and confident. She also shared some of her own experiences, making the conversation feel more like a chat than a formal interview.
- Could you tell me why you are interested in Citi?
- What specifically about this spring internship appeals to you?
- In your opinion, where do you see yourself five years from now?
Intern
The interview was a quick 10-minute chat where I mostly talked about myself and answered one or two generic questions. It was too short to really show who I am or connect with the recruiter. The manager interview was the same, and then they left me hanging for days, saying they'd get back to me the following week, but then just disappeared. They didn't even send a quick email to let me know I didn't get the job, which gave me false hope. Terrible experience!
