First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Citi.
Corporate Banking Analyst
This was an annoying interview process where they asked 80% technical questions about capital allocation theory. They only asked me one question about my background and myself. Both interviewers were smug and distant. Show me some love.
- What are the differences between dividends, share repurchases, and capital expenditures?
Corporate Banking Analyst
The interview process started with an in-person round, then moved to a virtual Superday that included both technical and behavioral questions. It was a pretty straightforward process, and they laid out the steps at the beginning. The recruiter was also very helpful and quick to answer any questions.
- Given two companies, one with 2x leverage, x cash flow, and x EBITDA, and another with 4x leverage and different cash flow and EBITDA, how would you assess the risk of working with either as a client?
Corporate Banking Analyst
I applied in November and heard back in late March. I had 2 interviews, back to back, both 1-to-1 with the aviation team corporate banking. The first interview was general competency: walk me through your CV, why Citi and not another bank? and why corporate banking? and tell me about a time when you used both qualitative and quantitive analysis. The second interview was technical: how would you increase the profit margins of a restaurant? how would you assess credit worthiness? One of my answers was looking at liquidity and solvency ratios and he asked me to name all 3 liquidity ratios. How would you rate the creditworthiness of these industries from very risky to very little risk (aviation, freights, technology etc). He was gearing to ask me a question about FCF but seeing that I did not know it, he skipped question.
- Could you list the three liquidity ratios?
- Can you tell me about the 3 liquidity ratios?
- Name all 3 liquidity ratios.
