Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CITGO.
Process Engineer
I had this packet with about 7 questions that the interviewer went through with me. They were pretty standard questions about leadership, conflict, building rapport, and my weaknesses and strengths. The interviewer was really nice. The next step would be an on-site interview, but that's scheduled for a couple of months from now.
- Can you share your greatest strength and your greatest weakness?
Process Engineer
First interview was on campus at TAMUK, was basic 10 min interview that everyone typically gets ( more of get to know you type interview) . If they like you then they will schedule you for an on-site interview
- Tell me about a time you had to overcome a difficult learning experience.
Process Engineer
Got a good chance to show my personality, smarts, and what I could do from some really great folks, mostly process engineers. It all happened over a few days in different settings. Started with basic personality and behavioral stuff at a nearby university. Then the final interview had dinner-chats, tours of the plant, panel interviews, conceptual questions, and teamwork activities.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to inform someone they were mistaken, despite their strong conviction. Describe your approach, their response, and the resolution.
