Talent Acquisition
I spoke with a recruiter in Singapore. Their internet connection was really bad, and they didn't seem very engaged. Honestly, as a fellow recruiter, this was one of the worst interview experiences I've had, ending with radio silence. The company also seemed indecisive about the role itself.
- What's your motivation for leaving your present job?
- Could you walk me through your background and experience?
Senior Recruiter
So, the staffing agency let me know they sent my profile to Circles.Life and I did some digging. Found out that Tech and HR were the departments getting bad reviews, which was a bummer since I wanted to join HR for Tech hiring. But the agency said they got a new Head of HR and things are better now, so I went ahead with cautious hope. First off, the interview invites kept getting rescheduled, so definitely keep an eye on your email and calendar, even if you're already there. Then, there were a bunch of us candidates at reception for different roles, and all the interviewers were late. HR showed up 40 minutes past the scheduled time for me. I spoke with several HR folks, but it was clear they weren't on the same page about what they needed. One person even said they wanted an assistant for their own work – a senior recruiter reporting to a peer, which wasn't in the job description. Because of this expectation mismatch, HR ended their questions early and left me waiting for the final interview with the hiring manager, the Head of People 'n Culture. I waited and waited, and after 10 minutes, I checked my calendar and the event was gone! No email cancellation, no one came to get me. So I turned off the lights, thanked the coordinator, and left. It's hard to be too disappointed when you go in knowing what you're getting into. Shout out to those who shared their reviews before me!

Recruiter
It was a 2-round process, and everything seemed positive, but they mentioned wanting to see more candidates for comparison and then went MIA. It's been 2 months. The company talks a lot about employer branding and candidate experience, but they don't deliver. They also boast about their business direction, but they're just using M1's infrastructure, and now they aren't the only ones offering cheap mobile data. Their diversity is poor. They have a big recruiting team because the managers and leads like to hire more headcount to do their jobs.
- Could you elaborate on your background and past roles?
