Technical Coding System Design

I had two rounds of technical interviews. They focused on fundamental computer science topics like operating systems, system design, and databases. There were also some basic data structures and algorithms questions, which were medium in difficulty. Specifically, they asked about linked lists and graphs. A lot of emphasis was placed on object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Can you discuss System Design concepts and how you would design a playlist using a specific data structure, explaining your rationale?
  • Design a playlist using a data structure and justify why you chose it.

Coding

This was a really bad interview experience. They rescheduled it like 5 or 6 times. During the actual interview, the interviewer didn't seem that interested in my solutions. The first question was coding related, and I explained it well. It was supposed to be an hour long, but they finished it in about 35-40 minutes. I got the feeling they might have already filled the position or had other plans.

Technical Case

I interviewed at Cimpress for a Financial Analyst role. After a personal health break, I was interested because it aligned with my career goals, even though my prior experience and compensation were higher. The process had three technical rounds, each about 45 minutes, and one was with the Head of Finance. I passed the first two but got rejected after the last one with a vague reason like my "skills are better suited for another role." After putting in many hours across several discussions, this generic feedback feels like an afterthought. If I wasn't a fit, they should have known way earlier, maybe during the HR screening or after the first round. It seems like the interview process was uncoordinated and lacked direction. It felt more like they were just trying to fill time and justify the process instead of making real hiring decisions. The whole thing seemed disorganized and disrespectful of my time. Cimpress really needs to fix its hiring process, not just for efficiency but for basic professionalism and respect.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • A case study involving a budget versus actual analysis was presented.

Technical Coding Behavioral

I got referred by a friend and then the recruiter called me. The first step was an online test on Hacker Earth, which lasted 90 minutes. It included MCQs on data engineering, Git, and modern data warehouses, plus some SQL coding. After that, the first interview round was scheduled. They asked me about SQL, DBT, and Python data modeling concepts like dimension and fact tables. I also got questions related to my resume and some scenario-based ones. I got rejected after the first round. Honestly, I felt the technical interviewer had like 10 years of experience and was expecting that from me even though I have 5 years and the job description only asked for 4+ years.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Can you tell me about yourself?
  • What are window functions?
  • Could you explain dbt materializations and provide guidance on selecting the appropriate one?
